What is this place?
Sighost was created in June of 2001 to provide simple, low cost and reliable image hosting.   Originally for small "tagline" images on bulletin boards, our servers have been configured for image processing capacity and the ability to serve billions of image hits every day.   We also provide larger accounts for photo and auction image hosting.

What makes Sighost different than cheap/free hosts?
For a start: no red X's!   At Sighost, we have our own servers on quality backbones (Level3/Verio) for the most reliable hosting available.  And to be sure our servers and network stay top notch, we actually (gasp!) charge a realistic and sustainable rate for our services.  Free hosts come and go because they soon find they cannot pay server or bandwidth bills. Sighost has been hosting your images for over eight years and will continue to do so for many, many more.   Add the fact that we make a real effort to concern ourselves with quality and value, and you'll find we're one of the best image hosts on the web.

Why didn't my registration work?
If you entered a valid email address during signup, you should have received an email a few minutes later containing signup information. If you did not receive an email after a few minutes, please click here to have your confirmation email resent.   If you have further trouble registering, please contact us.

Why can't I login? It keeps showing me the login screen
1) Your browser is blocking cookies. To allow you to login, Sighost must be used with cookies enabled. Note that by default Signost uses "Session Cookies" which are cleared as soon as the browser shuts down and are not saved to your disk.   To enable session cookies, consult your browser documentation. In IE6, click "Tools -> Internet Options" then select the "Privacy" tab. There are two ways to fix this:
  • Generic fix: In the "Settings" area, click "Advanced" and choose "always allow session cookies".
  • Safer fix: In the "Web sites" are, click "Edit" and add "sighost.com" and "www.sighost.com" to the list of sites allowed to save cookies.
2) You might also be running proxy or security software which makes it impossibleto authenticate you. Many so called "privacy software" settings can break basic HTTP 1.0 specs and cause browser authentication to fail. The only solution is to turn off the software or setting which is over-riding your browser's authentication. Note that firewall software such as Zone Alarm will NOT cause this problem.

3) You could be using a really old browser. 'Ancient' browsers (IE3, Netscape 3, almost any AOL browser) will likely not work with session cookies. The only option is to upgrade to a more recent version.

How come you're not accepting new free members?
From time to time, restrictions may be in place to limit the number of accounts running on each of our servers.   Unlike cheap "bulk" hosts, Sighost is committed to quality service and will never knowingly allow more accounts than our servers or bandwidth can handle.

If new accounts are disabled, email us for info on getting access to a temporary account to test Sighost.
